THE HANDBRIDGE PROJECT

GORGEOUS GARDEN DESIGN IN CHESTER WITH PANORAMIC VIEWS

Garden design to compliment the meadow views

The focal point for the Handbridge project was the extensive meadow views, Walker Landscape and Design were able to take advantage of this by adding a large patio space, sun-trap seating area and substantial planting. Combining natural and modern elements to suit both the contemporary property and the natural beauty that surrounds this Chester home.

For this project in Handbridge in Chester, we provided a full service from the design to implementation and project management. The design of this garden was led by an extensive building project featuring contemporary windows and patio doors, making the most of the fantastic views over the meadows in Chester.

The large patio was the main focal point of the design, creating an indoor-outdoor living by using the large patio doors and extending their external living space. For the patio we used Marshall’s porcelain Urban range, in the colour steel which is a darker shade of grey to match the windows of the property.

We also added a curved seating area at the bottom left corner of the garden, created to provide a cosy seating area that makes the most of the evening sun.

For this garden landscaping project in Chester we did a complete overhaul of the planting, stripping almost everything and starting afresh. To begin we added a base of large evergreen shrubs, alongside perennials and annuals.

Closer to the house we added some more formal planting to suit the modern style of the property, with formal hedging and topiary, which we softly blended out towards the rear of the garden which has a more natural approach with the planting to compliment the meadows below.

The main challenge for this project was the access and logistics, due to the height of the property and the slope we needed to construct timber ramps to move our equipment. For a permanent fix for the client, we created a paved slope on one side of the property to allow them to use the lawnmower and move their bins, and steps to the other for quicker access.

For this property, the client chose to take up our maintenance package. In this instance, we visit a few times a year to carry out larger tasks such as chemical cleaning of the hard landscaping, and larger pruning work and lawn treatments.

The garden design project in Chester was a great success, with planting and a patio to suit both the modern style of the property and the natural meadows at the bottom of the garden.
