A stylish and functional outdoor space for a modern home
The Hale Project originated from the client's desire to enhance their outdoor living area for themselves and their dog. The project aimed to create a sociable outdoor entertainment space that included a bespoke fire pit and gorgeous feature wall. The project also grew to include a durable driveway and brightening living wall in a basement light well.

The main focus of this transformation is the eye-catching feature wall at the back of the property. This feature wall was created with concrete block work which was then clad with Marshall's porcelain tile. This feature wall creates a beautiful backdrop to the rest of the garden.
At the back of the garden, we also have rows of bamboo hedging, chosen to soften and contract the hard landscaping at this property. This decision also influenced the rest of the planting at the property, with lots of grasses and soft natural planting to lighten the space.
In front of the feature wall, you'll find the lovely raised dining area, perfectly placed to make the most of the evening sun. Next to this is the cosier seating area, which is centered around the custom firepit which we built on-site. We connected this stunning firepit to mains powered gas, to ensure the property owners do not have to store patio gas canisters or deal with the gas running out midway through their party.
In this property, the homeowners chose artificial grass as this was easier for them to maintain with their dog, this also ensures they have a beautiful green lawn all year round. Closest to the house there is a large composite deck made from Millboard, this is ideal for UK properties as it is easy to clean, non-slip, and rot-resistant.
To the side of the garden, we also installed a bespoke outdoor kitchen by Grillo, featuring a grill, sink, fridge, and a DeliVita pizza oven - ideal for summer parties.
The driveway was an element that was added later into the project after we started work to the rear of the property. The client chose sawn granite sets from Marshall's which we laid on a solid concrete mortar bed, this results is a 'bomb-proof' durable driveway that looks fantastic.
The final element of this properties transformation was the living wall in a lightwell. This lightwell could be seen from the basement of the property and was often dirty and unattractive to look at where the rain runs down. To resolve this, we installed an artificial living wall, which is zero-maintenance, attractive to look at, and really brightens this area well.
The client and ourselves are extremely pleased with the outcome of this landscaping project in Greater Manchester. The modern design really compliments the property, and the functional usable spaces will be enjoyed by the client for many years.
