This family wanted a modern and fun outdoor entertaining space for their young family to enjoy in Chester. Showcasing a large swim spa and hot tub, this luxurious garden also boasts a large outdoor kitchen and a porcelain-clad TV feature wall.

One of the key features of this project is the sunken fire pit area – which was actually added to this project midway through the build. We ran power and gas underground to this garden area to ensure the fire pit did not run out of fuel halfway through their garden party.

The biggest challenge within this project has to be the swim spa area. We had to dig out the space for the swim spa with a concrete base, retaining walls, power, and drainage and then finished with a composite deck. This was definitely the most significant structural undertaking of the entire project, but worth the effort for the seamless finish flush with the paving.

Marshalls Porcelain Paving is used throughout this project, we used the popular Marshalls Symphony Urban in Ash. This paving was used throughout the garden, including the fire pit seating and fire pit itself,  the feature wall, steps, and risers. This helped to create a contemporary and seamless design.

A lovely addition to this project in Chester was the use of two pergolas. The client utilised these to make the most of their new outdoor space, including louvered roofs, heaters, LED lighting, and retractable blinds so that the outdoor kitchen and fire pit space can be used in all weather. These features are also controlled by remote control for complete convenience.

The large outdoor kitchen works really well in this project. One side of the kitchen features the preparation areas and appliances – such as a DeliVita pizza oven and ice well. This means the other side of the outdoor kitchen is able to accommodate eight bar stools. This creates a sociable space that makes the most of the outdoor TV.

This garden design project in Chester was a triumph. The client was pleased with the results, and we were honoured to be awarded the Marshall’s National Award for Best Engineering Achievement. The modern design and use of the space on this project, allowed for a luxurious and entertaining outdoor space for this family to enjoy year after year.
