A luxury garden designed to maximise the sun
The Clutton project is a supply, installation and maintenance project based in Cheshire. Designed by the landscape-architect homeowner, this garden benefits from the sun’s location throughout the day, allowing for multiple lounging spots, as well as alfresco dining.

Maximising the morning sun, we installed a smaller, cosier space for sipping a morning coffee.
About 4 years ago, we were commissioned to install from an existing garden design created by the owner of this gorgeous home, who is a landscape architect themselves. Based in Clutton, Cheshire, their property has beautiful elements, such as sweeping windows, which were utilised to maximise the final impact of the landscape design.
When looking at the rear of the property from their expansive garden, you will find a main raised terrace designed with brickwork to match the existing bricks on the home, achieving aesthetic cohesion. For the ground work of this Cheshire-based home, we meticulously laid Marshall’s Fairstone Sawn Versuro, a material renowned for using the finest, hand-selected Indian sandstone. Not only does this add visual interest with the texture it provides, but it also adds practical non-slip properties. This area was bordered by dwarf walls and short shrubs to enclose the area, creating a distinct space for an outdoor dining table, ideal for alfresco dining.
As you step down from the raised terrace towards the centre of the home, there is a spacious pathway, lined by planting for the ultimate view onlooking the garden from inside the client’s home. This pathway creates a seamless transition into the next area of the garden; the luxury Cheshire outdoor kitchen.
An L-shaped outdoor kitchen was chosen to hug the shape of the home, allowing for a flawless flow around their residence. Their premium outdoor kitchen includes a state-of-the-art wood fired pizza oven, which we insulated, rendered then built a delicate brick archway to form the door and opening of the pizza oven.
Not only does the design, again, complement the existing features of the home, but the inclusion of this luxury feature offers the opportunity for our client’s to cook authentic Italian pizza in the comfort of their own home.
Something that we’re always trying to incorporate into our own designs, is the inclusion of multi-use spaces. Within this design, we installed a separate, more relaxing space that maximises the presence of morning sun. While this area is smaller, it provides a cosy space to sit with a morning coffee, basking up the sun, while being surrounded by small shrubs and the same design of paving and brickwork that can be found on the raised terrace, closer to the home.
We are extremely fortunate to be able to revisit this location fortnightly as our client opted for our maintenance package, whereby we trim the lawn and hedges, remove unsightly weeds, tidy up the borders, and in the winter, we jet wash and treat the paving. By selecting this package, our client can enjoy a pristine luxury outdoor space, all year round.
